Important!A job queue processes changes to user preferences. There may therefore be a delay before changes to the settings take effect.

Preferences control personal settings for the account, including the user profile, appearance, editing, recent changes, watchlist, search, and notifications.

Accessing preferences

  1. Open the user menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Change the required settings and select Save.

Alternatively, open Special:Enhanced_Preferances directly.

Some system notifications are sent regardless of notification subscriptions. For example, a notification is sent when a task is assigned to a user.
Notifications for watched pages are different: they depend on the notification subscriptions configured for the watchlist.

An email address must be available in the user profile to receive email notifications.
