The Privacy center provides privacy-related settings and actions for a user account, including cookie consent, data export, account anonymization, and account deletion.
Cookie consent
When accessing the wiki for the first time, a cookie consent prompt is displayed. The prompt can also appear again after the browser cookies have been deleted.
The prompt allows all cookies to be accepted or individual cookie categories to be managed. To manage individual categories, open Cookie consent settings and use the toggle switches.
The available cookie categories are:
- Necessary cookies: Cookies required to use the wiki, such as cookies for session information and user identification.
- Convenience cookies: Cookies that improve the wiki experience, such as cookies that save the state of interface components and user preferences.
- Matomo: Cookies used for site analytics. This category is visible only if the necessary Matomo functionality is installed and activated.
At least the necessary cookies must be accepted before the wiki can be used for the first time.
Cookie consent can be changed at any time. Select Change cookie consent in the wiki footer or open the page Special:PrivacyCenter.
Privacy center
The Privacy center is the central location for managing privacy-related settings and personal data.
To open the Privacy center, select Privacy center from the user menu. The page can also be opened directly at Special:PrivacyCenter.
The available functions are organized into modules.
Account anonymization
Anonymization replaces the username associated with an account and removes or renames previous user information. The new username is displayed wherever the username is used, including comments, page histories, and logs.
To anonymize an account:
- Enter a new username. A randomly generated anonymized username is offered by default.
- Select Anonymize my account.
- Confirm the anonymization.
The anonymization process starts after confirmation. A notification is displayed when the process is complete.
Account deletion
Deleting an account removes references to the account from the wiki. Contributions are attributed to Deleted user instead of the original username.
To delete an account, select Delete your account and confirm the deletion.
Depending on the wiki configuration, account deletion may require administrator approval. In this case, the button is labeled Request account deletion instead.
Stored data
The Privacy center provides an overview of data stored about the user.
Select Show all data to open a dialog containing the available data.
Data export
The data displayed in the Privacy center can be exported as an HTML or CSV file.
The available data is organized into the following categories:
| Data type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Personal data | Email address, name, profile information, and other personal data |
| Working data | Reminders, assignments, and other data related to work in the wiki |
| Log data | Contribution history, administrative actions, and other logged activities |
| Mentions in content | Articles, timeline entities, comments, and other content that refers to the user |
To export personal data:
- Select the data types to include in the export.
- Select the export format: HTML or CSV.
- Select Export data.
The exported file is saved to the local download location.
Privacy policy consent
The Privacy center lets users view and change their privacy policy and terms of service agreement settings.
The section contains the following options:
- I accept the privacy policy of this site: Confirms that the privacy policy has been read and acknowledged.
- I accept the terms of service of this site: Confirms that the terms of service have been read and acknowledged.
Additional options may be available depending on the wiki configuration.
Terms of service and privacy policy
When logging in to the wiki for the first time, the terms of service and privacy policy must be accepted during the login process.
The consent settings can be viewed and changed later in the Privacy center.
Privacy-related requests
Depending on the wiki configuration, certain privacy-related actions cannot be performed directly. Instead, an action must be requested from a wiki administrator.
The affected sections contain a request form. Depending on the available actions, the form provides options such as:
- Request anonymization
- Request account deletion
For account deletion, an optional comment can be added to explain the reason for the request.
After a request is submitted, it is sent to wiki administrators for review. Administrators can approve or reject the request in the Privacy Administration.
While a request is being processed, the Privacy center displays a Request pending notice.
If a request is rejected, a notification is sent with a comment from the wiki administrator. If a request is approved, a notification is also sent.
