This guide helps new colleagues get productive during their first days at Company. It is designed for the employee, their manager, and their onboarding buddy.
Before day one
Managers should confirm that equipment, accounts, calendar invites, and access requests are ready before the start date. The onboarding buddy should send a short welcome message and arrange an informal introduction during the first week.
| Task | Owner | Target date |
|---|---|---|
| Confirm laptop and peripherals | Manager | Five business days before start |
| Create identity and email account | People operations | Three business days before start |
| Add new starter to team channels | Manager | One business day before start |
| Schedule buddy introduction | Buddy | First day |
First day checklist
- Join the welcome call with your manager.
- Confirm that you can sign in to email, chat, calendar, and the knowledge base.
- Read the team overview and current quarterly goals.
- Set up your profile photo, working hours, and notification preferences.
- Ask your buddy how the team usually communicates urgent and non-urgent topics.
First week outcomes
By the end of the first week, you should know what your team owns, how work is planned, how to ask for help, and where important documentation lives. You are not expected to know every system or process yet.
