Admin features

For administrators, little has changed between versions 3 and 5 in terms of user interface functionality (besides a new skin).

While the formatting of many special pages has been improved with regard to usability and accessibility, the range of functions remains very similar.

The following topics were discussed in the workshop:

Topics
Interface (FlexiSkin) and navigation menus (Menu Editor for menu editing); Additional Menu now as a mega menu (flat structure only)
Ad-hoc translation: Translation mechanism demonstrated
Support quality management: Use Release and Workflows; document control example
Make content discoverable: Provide portal pages with SMW queries; demonstrated with an example
PDF Templates: Templates must be "moved" from the server; are adjusted directly in the wiki in BlueSpice 5 (PDFCreator)
Permissions Management: Layout Change (with integrated group management and standard view / advanced view)
Migration Guidelines: Orphaned Content - How to Handle It?
  • "Orphaned pages" - no indication of a page's relevance
  • Use SMW queries to find potentially obsolete pages, e.g.
    • Generate a list of all pages that haven't been edited for x years (output as a table with columns for Page, Last Editor, Creation Date, Last Modified Date, etc.)
