The Readiness Check ensures that all administrative, technical, and organizational prerequisites for onboarding are fully completed before the new employee starts. It acts as a formal validation step before proceeding to the onboarding execution phase. This step confirms alignment between HR, IT, and the Hiring Manager and ensures that no critical onboarding component is missing.

Checklist

Outcome

Once the Readiness Check is completed:

  • All onboarding prerequisites have been verified as complete
  • HR, IT, and Hiring Manager alignment is confirmed
  • The onboarding process is cleared to proceed to execution phases
  • The employee is ready to receive onboarding instructions and start information

If gaps are identified:

  • The process loops back to preparation activities (e.g. document preparation or system provisioning)
  • Missing onboarding components are resolved before continuation

Notes

The Readiness Check acts as a formal control gate in the onboarding process. It ensures process quality, reduces onboarding risks, and prevents the employee from starting without the required tools, documentation, or system access. This step is internal and does not involve direct interaction with the employee.
